Raba Kistner, Inc. is seeking for a Environmental Scientist I- Stormwater Compliance to join our San Antonio office.

The Environmental Scientist I responsibilities encompass supporting and contributing to a successful Environmental Services Division through execution of stormwater compliance and other tasks under the supervision or guidance of a project manager/technical expert. This includes management of inspection and reporting initiatives for assigned storm water locations while supporting other division environmental projects/operations as needed. The Environmental Scientist I will be responsible for the execution of fieldwork including site assessments, inspections, form completion, report writing and client communication as required for assigned locations.

Employee shall have the following minimum duties and responsibilities:

Conduct stormwater inspections in compliance with TCEQ stormwater regulations for MS4, construction and industrial sites.
Prepare reports on findings to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal environmental laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
Evaluate environmental impact(s) of site activities including water quality/wetland/hazardous material geological, cultural or historic resources.
Keep abreast of current environmental developments to include laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental controls.
Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete inspection reports in accordance with established quality procedures.
Meet with client supervisors or other project leaders on assigned project sites to discuss and coordinate environmental compliance activities, corrections to existing controls, and implementation of additional controls.
Meet inspection schedules for assigned locations and adhere to project deadlines.
Interpret technical information and assist with preparation of technical reports.
Assist with coordination of activities of subcontractors as needed.
Interact with clients as necessary.
Ensure the safe utilization, storage, use, and maintenance of all documents, tools, equipment and company vehicles.
Carry out assigned duties in accordance with established procedures.
Communicate with Supervisor on a recurring basis regarding inspections, findings and client communication.
Lift and carry 25+ pounds to include, but not limited to tools, sample containers and equipment.
Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes or airborne particles, grease and oils, toxic or caustic chemicals, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Employees shall possess the following minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, or a closely related field.
PE, CPESC or CESSWI certification or ability to obtain.
Knowledge of TCEQ stormwater regulations for MS4, construction and industrial sites and stormwater BMP erosion control procedures/practices.
Zero (0) – three (3) years of applicable experience.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Must be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner and skillfully gather and analyze information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Earth, and other software.
Must be able to work well with all levels of people within the organization and outside the company.
Ability to work independently on a job site.
Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet firm’s automobile insurability requirements.
Ability and willingness to work protracted or irregular hours and/or in excess of 40 hours per week on an as-needed basis due to client needs (i.e., other than 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and/or other than Monday through Friday).
Ability and willingness to travel out of town and overnight to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
