The Geoscientist II responsibilities encompass supporting a successful business practice in Raba Kistner's Geoscience Service Line. Responsibilities include performance of field activities including but not limited to site visits, data collection, groundwater mapping, and soil or groundwater sampling activities. The Geoscientist II responsibilities also include directing preparation of report graphics and preparing written environmental reports and proposals. Secondary responsibilities include performance of internal projects as needed including but not limited to the development of internal documents, databases, and statements of qualifications. The Geoscientist II will also have the responsibility to oversee project budgets, subcontractors and clients to a limited degree, teach, and train others on performance of technical field activities, data interpretation, and other job duties.

Employee shall have the following minimum duties and responsibilities:

Conduct Phase I and/or Phase II ESAs in addition to fieldwork and data reduction as necessary to support Geosciences and Environmental Due Diligence projects.
Conduct fieldwork and data reduction as needed to support projects executed by other Environmental Service Lines (Natural Resources, Regulatory Compliance, Cultural Resources, and Storm Water).
Install groundwater-monitoring wells to include well installation/development, purging and sampling.
Collect soil, surface and groundwater samples.
Interpret technical information and prepare technical reports.
Coordinate and direct activities of subcontractors on assigned projects.
Assist in preparation of technical proposals and statements of qualifications (SOQs).
Conduct research and/or assist in conducting "walk-throughs" of project sites for the purpose of preparing proposals for projects.
Learn and understand project financial management fundamentals and resources and assist in overseeing or managing project budgets as required.
Oversee/train others in the execution of technical duties and/or project financial management tasks.
Provide Health and Safety oversight/management on field projects.
Frequently lift and/or move 45 pounds to include, but not limited to tools, sample containers and equipment.
Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
Position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work responsibilities require out of town travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices and project locations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Employees shall possess the following minimum qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Geology or related geosciences. Masters degree in Geology preferred.
Three years applicable experience.
Familiarity with Texas geologic conditions. Specific knowledge of San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Houston conditions preferred.
Good working knowledge of Phase I and Phase II ESA requirements and components.
Proficiency in soil, groundwater and surface water collection procedures and protocols.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software.
Ability to quickly establish proficiency with RKI procedures and protocols for performing Geosciences and Due Diligence project work.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER/8-hour refresher.
Possess valid Texas drivers license and meet companys automobile insurability requirements.
Good oral communication skills to interact with clients, staff, and regulatory staff (e.g., Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) successfully.
Excellent written communication skills for preparing proposals, reports, and other technical documents.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain and/or slippery surfaces.
Present a professional appearance to best represent the firm.
Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
